The Dogs China's Emperors Kept in Their Sleeves
For a thousand years, Chinese emperors bred dogs small enough to carry inside a robe sleeve — ranked above courtiers and protected by death penalty. In 1860, the British Army found five of them in a burning palace and named one after the theft.
